Real fan following is when you expect nothing in return

I was perplexed when I saw the photo of Sai Tamhankar in Pune Times yesterday. I have been a fan of Sai Tamhankar for many years now. We all live in the era of instant gratification and clearly believe in “Out of sight, out of mind “philosophy.
2017 had been one of the most challenging years for Marathi film Industry. Mukta Barve was superb in Hrudayantar, Sonalee Kulkarni lived “Hampi” & Priya Bapat will end up exploring the landscape in “Gachchi”. Unfortunately, Sai’s only release in 2017 came in the form of “Solo” which was a bilingual film written and directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Sai tried fishing in different waters and came out victorious and was noticed in Tamil newspapers.

I read the article twice and particularly liked the adjective used which says “sensuous” Sai Tamhankar. The nervous system is a buildup of  5 traditionally recognized senses like Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell and Touch. When one goes to watch a movie, we are in for a cinematic experience and it always the sight & hearing senses which ensure that we are glued to our seat. If that is missing, we end up checking our mobiles phones, head to the cafeteria or visit the washroom. In this age of great ambiguity & relentless change, we fail to appreciate the cardinal attribute which a celebrity holds. Having seen and reviewed hundreds of Marathi movies, I think if there is any actress presently who can act through her eyes, it is Sai Tamhankar. The weird thing about acting is that you get paid for discovering that you have multiple personalities. When I look at Sai Tamhankar I feel overwhelmed by the fact that she broke the conventions and stereotypes with sheer eye contact! The industry has discovered a dusky actor with engaging and sensuous eyes in the form of Sai Tamhankar way back in 2008.

I don’t think awards and accolades matters so much. At the end of the day, it is always the right positioning which matters. Her eyes speak volumes. As a genuine fan, I am happy about it and I wish Sai all the best.
